Sounds like that was a very fun class. ^

This is an interesting discussion. It seems it's pretty common for people to wonder about these issues.

I wonder, if the British government does this before the U.S. government, if that will have any negative effect on how Americans perceive their government. It's almost as if the first country to release their records would be pressuring the others to do the same. And that makes me wonder...are they going about this in communication with other governments?

Britain already started releasing their secret UFO files, I believe they started the project in 2008 of releasing the info. Supposedly it's going to take a few years for all the files to be published. Here are two new stories about it:

And here's the UK National Archives website where the files are being published: http://ufos.nationalarchives.gov.uk/

Wow John, I didn't realize that Britain was releasing their reports. It seems like governments have kept tight-lipped on this issue, but I'd be very interested to look at their archive.

I have to say though, after reading the CNN article, that even though they are being open about their documents, there does seem to be an air about it, as if it's really "nothing."

The article says:

"The Ministry of Defense has no other interest or role regarding UFO matters and does not consider questions regarding the existence or otherwise of extraterrestrial life-forms," it said Wednesday.

It's almost as if they don't want to pursue the research or investigate any inconsistencies.

I wonder if they were simply stating that their role is with regards to the physical organization and release of the documents, but nothing beyond that?

You know, it's entirely possible that Britain is releasing only some of their research but telling the world that this is everything. For example, maybe this is all the "secret" stuff but not the "super secret" stuff, nor the "super duper secret" stuff either. ;) :)

In the immortal words of Donal Rumsfeld: we don't know what we don't know...

Yes, this is entirely possible, and the citizens may never for sure what the bigger plan is. I guess all you do it document, and pay attention to the details.

I think for obvious reasons though, the government would protect sensitive information from the public for national security reasons.

Thanks for sharing those links. That's a lot of information to read through!

aliens have to exist, if you do their must be other creations out there. right?

cutebokchoi 06-10-2009 01:48 AM

There must be aliens. The Universe is so big that the laws of probability say that there are aliens.

koshkagoddess 08-16-2009 01:46 AM

I believe there is intelligent life out there. It has to be. As they said in Contact, it would be a waste of space to have such a large universe and we be the only sentient life. However, I don't believe for a second that we have ever been visited by any of them yet. :)

UnDeRoAtH 08-16-2009 08:30 AM

grrr kosh you beat me too it i was going to say that exact line hahaha but i dunno about being visited by them yet they might be watching tho :)

If clear and "fo' real nigga" pictures are taken of aliens, UFO's or such, then yes, I believe in Aliens.
