How long have you been using Linux? Personaly I have been using Linux for about 3 years now. Its been a great learning experince. Linux is my full time hobby. I check over the server every day. Not only that but I download the backup of the database daily. I also check the system stats 4 times a day. I check bandwidth, CPU usage, and server load for the day. Plus I run this forum on Linux Servers. I check the forum at least 10 times a day for new posts. Linux keeps me busy. :cool:

I used it for about 3 weeks and went back to windows since I was not comfortable with linux and for me it was harder since I did not know what I was doing. Plus if my computer hardware was more compatible with it that would be a plus like support for ATI video cards. Linux is not bad I am just a noob that had a lot of trouble with it. I am going give that Centos a try though on my one computer.

Were you trying to set up a server, or were you using it as a desktop? As much as I like Linux. I wouldn't use it on my desktop for the simple fact. I have too many Windows programs and games. (The sooner they get ported to Linux the better) I could install a dual boot, but I prefer Windows on the desktop. I wouldn't use Windows on my server, even if you gave me a free copy. ;)

I used the desktop then tried to make a webserver with the desktop. I could not get it set up though and since I will have a lot of time next week I will have time to try it. After seeing this forum I think I will give it a try again only setting up a webserver this time.

I've been using Linux on my webserver for about a year now if I remember right. Its been a great learning experience, although I don't have much time to keep on on everything like I should be.

Actually use a dual boot machine WinXP/Ubuntu

Only around one year for me, on and off.
Still got ALOT to learn.

Im hoping there are some people here who have been using it for 5+ years that we can all learn from! :)

I haven't been using Linux for 5+ years, but I can probably answer any Linux question you may have. And If I don't have the answer I will find one. ;)

For about 3 years to host my sites. I tried Suse many years ago, but I use Windows for desktop. It's difficult to use other OS other than Windows when you use it for work.
