I try to shut down if I see lightning. Doesn't always happen though.
I wish I could shut down my work computer when it storms.

I'm with Sister Havana. I'll surf as long as I don't see lightning. We make the girls get off line then as well, and they're never happy about it. It's hard to keep a straight face when your 15 year old tells you you're ruining her life by not allowing her on facebook. Ah, the joys of step-parenthood.

If lightening hits your house, most surge protectors (if any) won't save your computer whether you're online, have it turned off, etc. You have to totally unplug any appliance to keep it truly safe.

All of the power and phone lines are burried for miles around here. It isn't that there couldn't be a surge big enough to wreck a computer, but I don't worry about it too much. That big a hit would take out a lot of other stuff, too.

LMAO!! The really funny thing is that her boyfriend's name IS Bobby...and he's the most wonderful guy in the world, and we'll be sorry when they get married and they're rich and famous. Right about then I tell her to clean her room...and then I cry because I've turned into my mother.
