Default Logo vs. Text Image

What is your view on this? Logos perform the same function as a text image; they probably go one step further in creating your business into a brand. Are logos necessary, or should one stick to a simple text image?

I'd say a logo is much better, as it gives the visitor a warming welcome. A text logo does save a lot of web space, but isn't as effective. But, if you place it correctly with good colours, it could be nice.

Thank you,
Donny

Logos are better because you don't even need to see the words if you see a popular logo.

EX: Mcdonalds arches, Target's Target and taget dog.

Definetly a logo. Branding is one of the most important factors in creating and marketing a business.

Agreed with everyone else here. I'd always take the logo over the text.

Excellent point. A text image gets the job done, but a logo is one of the first steps towards making your a brand.

Yes. Logos are much better because, like I_DROWN_FISH says, it is much better at helping customers remember who you are. Words are just words. They slip away from visitors just like that. That's why logos are so much better.

That's also a good point. Most of the time when you think of something, you try to draw a mental image. Logos do that for you already.

I would also go with a logo. People identify the image with your business. It sets apart your business from others and hopefully your logo sticks in people's minds.

I will also agree with all of you. Logo should be used in any size of business site and medium to large entertainment sites.I will not consider Logo to much necassary for a small personal or entertainment site.
