Installing Cannon Printer to Linux Mint 13

I have a Cannon MG2120 Fine scanner/copy/printer that I want to be able to use. I have the install disk for windows but with several attempts, I couldn't get it to work.
I also down load my movies from my JVC video camera, it uses the mini-vhs that I use the IEEE-1394 'firewire' cable. Windows has Movie Maker, does Linux have something I can use? The last time I had to download, Linux would not see the camera.
