I am not running a dual core server but Dell makes some pretty nice Dual core servers at a decent price. You may want to look into that.

I built a dual Opteron processor server that will eventually be used for hosting various sites including Linux Server Talk. I've been considering switching the processors in the server to be two dual-core Opterons so that I have 4 cores in the server total. From what I've read and what I've heard, the dual-core systems perform quite well as expected. Currently this site is running on a single dual-core pentium 4 processor. It does the job well, but if all of my sites continue to grow as they are the 4 cores will be quite beneficial to have.
