What Windows Version is Used for Hosting?
If I wanted a web server that runs Windows, what version would I need, Windows Server 2003?

Well I dont know why you would want to run windows, but you would need Windows 2003 server, or Windows 2003 webserver. Expect to pay between $400 and $800 depending on what version you buy. Just remember Linux is more stable and secure and its free!

I was just wondering because Windows XP was built with the NT framework. I thought maybe there was an XP Webserver OS....I don't plan on going with Windows.

There is (IIS) for XP, its limited to 10 connections. But you could install Apache on XP. And server webpages that way. If your just doing it as a home webserver. I highly recommend you check out these two websites. www.dslwebserver.com and www.diywebserver.com . They would be able to help you setup Apache on XP.

hehe this is a linux server forum 
No one probably runs a windows server i would assume.. they just are not secure and most of all, they are damn expensive!

Lets not start a Linux vs. Windows debate here...
I will say it's all in how you secure your box, I wouldn't take either over one another as far as security.

I am going to lock this topic. I answered the question, but this is a Linux website. I am not going to let this turn into a Linux VS Windows. In QBall15j's own words "I will say it's all in how you secure your box, I wouldn't take either over one another as far as security." I am also moving this to the general forum.
