Excel Shortcuts not working
Heres another one...
I have a user that uses Excel a bunch. He recieves reports and assignment sheets from other users as well. Right now, if he tries to double click on a file in an email, it will open excel but not the file. Make sense?
Same goes for a shortcut to a file. It'll open excel, but not the file. However, you can still open the file from "File > Open" option in the menu.
I've uninstalled/reinstalled, ran spyware/virus checks, rebooted, poked and tinkered and I cant figure it out.
Have you guys heard of this one?

I have had the same problem before I think that it has to do with wether it is saved under the old excel 2003 or the new excel 2007.

Yeah, if you saved the file as 2007 and the person opening it only has 2003 it won't work. This happens with me when I use Office 2008...most people can't open it. Try with the file, saving as as 2003 version and see if that has any effect.

I agree with filterstb. You have to save it as 2003.

Yes me too.
We keep some poker tournament results in an excel spreadsheet and when I emailed it to a poker friend, he could not open it.

Yeah, the filetype that you save it as definitely makes a difference. Saving it in the older version is the first thing I would do to try and fix it.
I see that this thread is about a year old...but did you get it to work snachala?

There is something called protected excel files. You cannot unlock those files unless you have a key specified by the author.
Your thread is not that much clear. Though we use excel to maintain our company stockings in washing machine and in retail business. We use this kind of excels to our dealers so that they can see the content and not modify it. I think I have helped you.

Me too had the same issue when I am using Version 2003 due to some spyware. I had run the antivirus software and removed it. After that I have uninstall EXCEL and re-installed it, it works. May be some system files are missing or that EXCEL file contains some virus. Try to scan that file too
