Dear Steelers fans. I know you love the team, I do too. But it's really kind of messed up to go hang outside the hospital. Actually, it's really tacky. It's not like he's going to be walking out and saying hello.
Let him heal and let his family and teammates be there for him.
Also saying this because the hospital he's in is the hospital where my grandfather was for quite awhile... the parking sucks and it's very crowded.
I'm sorry you're hurt, Ben, but you would've been a lot better off if you wore a friggin' helmet.

Yeah, way to set an example for the kiddies. I hope he is ok though.

Between no helmets and our Jake's alleged road rage, these big time QB's are really setting a high standard.

I was thinking about the irony of all the padding and protective gear that he wears when he plays football, but will ride a motorcycle at high speeds without a helmet. How much sense does that make?
Interesting timing as there is a currently a push in the Michigan congress to repeal our helmet law. The governor says she is going to veto it. We have nothing better to worry about in Michigan than repealing a helmet law, cuz our unemployment rate isn't like 7.+ percent...

Say you make millions of dollars off of your body and its agility and coordination... if that were me, i'd be walking around like a friggin' Charmin commercial. I'd be doing my best to take care of myself. Not to mention all fo the other people that depend on him for their livelihood.
Latest update on his condition (they just had a press conference)- he was in surgery for 7 hours today and they were able to fix all of the fractures. He broke his jaw, lost a lot of teeth, broke his nose, and had a 9 inch gash in the back of his head. The good news is that there appears to be no real injury to his brain (talk about lucky), neck or spine. The doctors didn't mention his knees, I had heard before that they were sprained.
He's very lucky to be alive. Even luckier that there is no apparant brain damage. He's probably lucky he hit the car windshield, which obviously had some give to it (i.e. it can shatter) Had he hit pavement first, he would've been dead. Had he hit at a different angle, he could've been thrown down the bluff to his death.
I just drove through that intersection last week. So far there have been no changed pressed against the woman driving and they don't believe Ben was speeding, so we'll see.
Such a shame. No one is invinsible.
